We took five cadets to join some other Squadrons for a fantastic day of flying at RAF Cranwell this week. The weather was bright & sunny even though it was a bit cold! The cadets some of whom had never flown before, were very excited for their chance to fly in the Grob 115e aircraft and with promised good views for miles, everyone was on the coach nice & early at 06:50 Saturday morning!
After being driven to RAF Cranwell, we all sat down for a briefing video which covered the safety aspects of flight and procedures for what to do if anything was to go wrong! We split cadets up into those who had not flown before, and got them up straight away.
The cadets were delighted with their experience, all having had chance to tell their pilots the things they wanted to do from gentle flight to full on aerobatic training including barrel rolls and experiencing G force.
The sortie was the early morning slot, so everyone was down on the tarmac with logbooks updated and back on the coach by 12:30, ready to recall the experience and the selfies to all their friends and families.
A big congratulations to 504 Squadron for their effort on the day, who all did the Squadron proud, having all their paperwork in order, helping tidy up & despite being a very early start, there were lot’s of smiles. They represented the Squadron well.
A big thank you to the other Squadrons who flew, led the organisation of the day, and all the staff at RAF Cranwell who facilitated some great memories for all the young cadets.
